Life as we understand it is a series of moments stretched out across the vast tapestry of time. We are born and, as we age, we will live, and laugh, and cry, and love. Not as a reflective thought or retrospective analysis. Not through the hazy recollection of emotion or the rose tinted mirror of nostalgia. Photography literally captures and stores the light that blinks and fades during, creating a permanent record of a time that will never come again.

A great photograph can connect you through time and space to those moments that flicker and fade away. Those moments can't be planned. At best you can create the space and conditions for them to occur, but mostly you just have to get lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
